Canadian embarks on 190 mile paddle for rainforests

Squamish, BC resident Norm Hann has set out on a 190 mile paddle along the coastal edge of the Great Bear Rainforest, which stretches from Vancouver Island to southeast Alaska. It is one of the largest remaining tracts of unspoiled temperate rainforest in the world, and is one of the most prolific areas for marine and terrestrial wildlife anywhere in the world. Hann seeks to bring awareness to the environmental threat a proposed oil pipeline and resultant tanker traffic would have on the rainforest, its people and wildlife.

You can track Hann’s progress through posts, photos and videos HERE.

BARK chases Donkeys on Catalina

With 25 Catalina Classic finishes and countless other channel crossings under his belt, Joe is no stranger to mass starts at dawn at the Isthmus. This past weekend Joe and Charlie skipped out on weekend shaping and glassing, and put 26.2 dirty miles on even dirtier running shoes. A handful of paddlers successfully completed the Marathon, and one of them, Josh Loren, even won the race this year in 3:02:04. Congrats to all!
