At events, on the boat, on trips, and in the shop, Joe’s digital camera is usually close at hand, safe in it’s vintage Pelican case when not not in use. One place the camera is hardly ever found is near a computer, however, so the offload of images is an infrequent practice. Here’s a sampling from Joe’s summer take, and it’s quite a broad selection of subjects – blue whales off Redondo Beach, neck-to-neck stock class finishes and even a hint at a Tahoe road trip. Joe, Charlie and crew hit the road this past week for the annual Outdoor Retailer trade show. Surftech premiered the new 14′ BARK Dominator, and quite a few of the team competed in the pre-show SUP race- Slater Trout and Candice Appleby both took 1st in their divisions.

A big WELL DONE goes out to everyone who made the more than challenging 32 mile crossing over the Ka’ iwi channel this past weekend. Mr. Mitchell secured his 9th consecutive title in the Unlimited division, with solid showings by the BARK team in all categories: Jackson English (2nd UL), Mikey Cote (4th UL), Keoni Watson (7th UL), Eric Abbott (1st Stock), Shane Scoggins (2nd Stock), Kanesa Duncan (1st Women UL), Scotty Gamble (3rd UL SUP), Candice Appleby (3rd Women SUP UL).

Casey Annis is one of the most vocal paddling proponents around – regularly posting on the message boards, forums, texting neighbors and friends to join in weekly group paddles, keeping track of paddling factoids and happenings, and just being an all around great guy to paddle with. Casey added a bit of excitement to this year’s weekly wednesday night workouts, bringing along his mini video camera and water housing. Thanks Casey!
John and Matt Becker are making the trek to Oahu today to meet hundreds of other paddling enthusiasts gathering there for the Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle on June 12th & 13th. It should be another unreal Rainbow event. Good luck, guys!
